Ann R. Givens, 76, of Camillus, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017 at home after a brief illness. Born in New Market, VA, she was the daughter of the late Richard R. and Hazel (Pence) Renalds.
Ann grew up in the Shenandoah Valley and attended Madison College (now James Madison University). She taught home economics at the high school level for 10 years. She worked 17 years for the West Genesee Central School District as the school information officer, retiring in 2005. In her retirement, Ann worked full-time doing bookkeeping in AgCore, Inc., her husband's manufacturer's representative business.
Ann is survived by her husband of 52 years, F. Spencer Givens; children, Alice Givens, Russ (Valerie) Givens and Amy (Rick Knapp) Kotlarz; brother, Robert (Nancy) Renalds; sister, Marlene Breu; grandsons, Samuel Kotlarz and Henry Givens. She was eagerly awaiting the birth of a granddaughter in December.
Ann was predeceased by her son-in-law, Adam Kotlarz.
An active member and volunteer of St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Ann also was a member of the Syracuse Men's Garden Club and Camillus Public Library. She loved singing alto in St. Michael's choir, researching local history, photography and gardening.
Calling hours will be Friday, November 10 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 11 at 1 p.m. in St. Michael's Lutheran Church, 5108 W. Genesee St., Camillus, with a reception following. Burial will be at a later date in New Market, VA.
