Andrew "Andy" Szpak Sr.

Andrew “Andy” Szpak Sr., 89, of Syracuse, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2018 at VA Medical Center. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was a graduate of St. Lucy's and proudly served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War.

Andy retired from Swiff & Co. after 39 years. He was a communicant of Holy Family Church and a member of the Salt City Bassmasters. An avid fisherman, he also enjoyed bowling, playing cards and going to the casino but above all, loved his family and dogs.

Andy was predeceased by his three sisters; three brothers; and son-in-law, Daniel Zimmerman.

Surviving are his honey of 68 years, the former Rita Gleason; daughters, Christine Zimmerman and Linda Banchi; sons, Andy Szpak Jr. and Tom (Pooney) Szpak, all of Syracuse; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be private. Andy will be laid to rest in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
