Amon Ellis, 93, of Syracuse, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at The Centers at St. Camillus. Born in Robbins, TN, he moved to Liverpool in 1930. A Bronze Star recipient, he served in the Army during WW II. Amon worked as a carpenter for over 60 years. An avid Yankees fan, he was a former Valley Babe Ruth baseball & softball coach. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. Amon was predeceased by his three brothers and four sisters. Surviving are his wife of 66 years, the former Ethelyn "Effie" Goodnough; daughters, Deborah Ballard of Geddes and Terry Hamilton of Syracuse; son, Mark (Sheila) Ellis of The Villages, FL; brothers, Jack Ellis of Baldwinsville and Boyd (Jeanne) Ellis of Bridgeport; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Friday, March 11 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will be Saturday, March 12 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Amon will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O.
