Alice M. (Bandru) Davern, 83, of Fairmount, passed away Friday at Upstate Community Hospital surrounded by her family. A loving mother and grandmother, Alice was known for devotion to her family and for her sweet nature. Born in Scranton, PA, she lived most of her life in the Syracuse area, and was a 1955 graduate of St. John Evangelist. Alice was employed with the West Genesee Central School District for 23 years, retiring in 1997. Alice was an avid West Genesee Marching Band fan, following her three children and two grandchildren around the country. You would often find Alice as the first person in line for admittance to nearly every band competition. Alice was very proud of her Polish heritage, creating a bountiful “Wilgilia” celebration each Christmas Eve. Above all, she loved spending time with her family. She was a communicant of Holy Family Church.
Alice was predeceased by her adoring husband who loved her “a bushel and a peck,” William E. “Eddie” in 2020, son, David Michael, in 1963; and brother, Gregory Bandru.
Surviving are her sons, William H. (Patricia) and Jeffrey (Nancy); daughter, Maureen (Jayme) Colasanti; grandsons, Shawn and Matthew Davern; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, May 5 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Facial coverings are required.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, May 6 at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Family Church 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse.
