Alfred W. “Al” Kerr, 82, of Marcellus, passed away Monday May 21, 2012 at University Hospital after a short illness. Born in Glasgow, Scotland on Tuesday, February 11, 1930, he was the son of James Miller Kerr and Helen Agnes Magee Kerr. He came to the U.S. in 1951 and lived in Marcellus since 1975. He was a graduate of Uddington Schools and the University of Strathclyde. Al was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired from General Electric in 1991 where he was an electrical engineer for 38 years and a member of its Elfun Society. An avid golfer, he was a past member of Tuscarora Golf Club and the Links at Sunset Ridge. He also enjoyed traveling. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, the former Kathryn Korn; daughter and son-in-law, Alyson and Michael Esposito of Auburn; son and daughter-in-law, James Ian and Mary Kerr of Howlett Hill; sister, Florence Cummins of Scotland; six grandsons; and many nieces and nephews. Per Al’s requests, there will be no calling hours. Services will be private. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by the Buranich Funeral Home, Camillus.
