Alfred William Bartlett Sr., 81, of Camillus, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013 at University Hospital. Born in Geneva on Tuesday, May 26, 1931, he spent his early years in Geneva and lived in Camillus since 1958. He was a 1949 graduate of Geneva High School and 1953 graduate of St. Lawrence University. Al served in the Army from 1953 until 1955. He retired in 1994 from the Onondaga County Department of Weights and Measures. An avid SU fan, he also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Al was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Isabel Bartlett; and sister, Patricia Brock. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, the former Barbara Carroll; sons and daughters-in-law, Alfred Jr. and Cynthia of Solvay, David and Paula of Syracuse, Stephen and Kathleen of Fairmount, Peter and Patti of Concord, North Carolina, and Paul of Camillus; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and James Schaefer of New Hartford, Mary Kay and Jeff Cannizzo of Amherst, and Anne Shanahan of Delray Beach, Florida; sisters and brother-in-law, Marcia and Michael Peters of Geneva, and Sue Oram of Toms River, New Jersey; 23 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, January 22 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 23 in St. Joseph's Church. Al will be laid to rest in Glenwood Cemetery, Geneva.
