Alfred J. "Greenie" Green, 80, of Camillus, passed away Monday, January 11, 2016 at Loretto. Born in Lilly, PA, the son of a coal miner, he moved to the Syracuse area in 1953. Alfred retired from Syroco after 45 years. A member of Immanuel United Methodist Church, he was formerly a trustee for the Howlett Hill Presbyterian Church. He was a life member of the Howlett Hill Fire Dept. and Elbridge Rod & Gun Club as well as the Marcellus Masonic Lodge. Greenie enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting but above all, loved spending time with his family. Alfred was predeceased by his parents, James and Margaret; three sisters; and a brother. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, the former Janet Frood; sons, Neil (Mary) Green of Syracuse and Scott (Tracey) Green of Warners; brother, George (Shirley) Green of Pittsburgh, PA; grandchildren, Janelle (Chris) Clark and Chad Green; great-grandson, Preston Clark; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, January 13 from 4 to 7 p.m. the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private in Howlett Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Assoc. of CNY, 441 W. Kirkpatrick St., Syracuse, NY 13204.
