Alfred Gregory Tienken, 85, of Syracuse, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018. Born and raised in the Syracuse area, he was employed with R.E. Dietz Co. as a manufacturing engineer for 42 years. Alfred obtained many patents for the company during his working career. He served in the Army for two years and was stationed in various places around the US. Alfred was a life member of the Fairmount Fire Dept. and served for 35 years.
Alfred was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Evangeline (Dey) Tienken.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, the former Frances Pullano; son, A. Gregory Tienken II of Baldwinsville; daughters, Cynthia L. Grupe of Coxsackie and Geraldine A. (Dwayne) Belt of Potsdam; sister-in-law, Louise R. Beaubiah of Ocala, FL; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, May 29 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Alfred will be laid to rest in Myrtle Hill Cemetery, Syracuse.
