Alexander J. Rinaldi

September 26, 1936 — July 26, 2018

Alexander J. Rinaldi, 81, of Camillus, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2018. “Al” was born and raised in Dunmore, PA. A graduate of Dunmore High School, Al joined the Navy at the age of 17. He was a “Tin Can Sailor” aboard the USS Hunt and earned a degree from Temple University. Upon discharge, Al relocated to Syracuse, NY where, on July 4th, 1963, he would meet his beloved Georgia at Sandy Beach State Park. Al was employed with Anaren Microwave for 34 years before retiring in 2001.

Al’s life was centered on faith, family and friends. He was a true gentleman who genuinely impacted the lives of many with kindness, compassion and wisdom. He lived his core belief of “Family First.” Al’s immediate and extended family were always his top priority. His “we will make it happen” outlook carried him throughout life and, by example, he taught his family to do the same. Al was an avid runner who spent years participating in races around Central New York, enjoyed traveling, spending time with his family and friends, watching SU basketball, football, NY Yankees games and attending any event that included his grandchildren.

A communicant of Holy Family Church, Al served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society. He also served on the Holy Family Building and Grounds Committee. Al was a board member for ECHO Meals on Wheels and delivered meals for many years. On several occasions his grandchildren joined him on his deliveries.

Al was predeceased by his loving wife of 37 years, Georgia (Dominick) Rinaldi.

Surviving are his son, Robert Rinaldi of Camillus; daughters, Kristin Maurer of Dallas, TX and Danielle (Sean) Roddy of Victor, NY; sister, Angela D'Arienzo of Dunmore, PA; grandchildren, Zachary, Rachel, Samuel, Mia and Joe; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Sunday, July 29 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, July 30 at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse. Al will be laid to rest in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt.
