Albert "Bud" Haines

Albert Bud Haines, 88, of Camillus, died Sunday, January 21, 2007 at St. Camillus Health & Rehabilitation Center. Born in Syracuse on Tuesday, August 20, 1918, he was the son of Harold Haines and Florence Rosa Moss. A resident of Camillus for over 50 years, Bud was employed by Crucible Steel Corp. as a metallurgist. He was an Army veteran of World War II, taking part in the Invasion of Normandy. Bud was a member of the Crucible Retirees. His interests included bowling and hunting. He also enjoyed fishing, especially on Oneida Lake. He liked baseball and was a Yankee fan. Also an avid gardener, he was known for his bounty of tomatoes and garlic which he grew in his spacious garden while his wife, Alice, would grow numerous flowers, especially marigolds and zinnias. They enjoyed sharing their labors of love with their friends. Bud was predeceased by his daughter, Diane, in 1968 and wife of 54 years, the former Alice Marko, in 2004. Surviving are his sister, Ruth Howser of Skaneateles; sister-in-law, Marie Marko of Syracuse; several nieces and nephews, including James Howser of Camillus, Paul Marko of Syracuse and Linda Cunningham of Onondaga Hill; several great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January, 24, 2007 at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Friends may call Tuesday, January 23, 2007 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens, DeWitt.
