Albert F. Wenzel

Albert F. Wenzel, 77, of Camillus, died Sunday, July 6, 2008 at University Hospital. Born in Syracuse on Sunday, June 7, 1931, he was a graduate of Smith Tech. He lived in Camillus for more than 40 years. Albert was employed by AT&T for 33 years, retiring in 1989, and was a union steward with CWA Local 1123. An Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served from 1953-1961 and received the Good Conduct Medal. He was also a lifetime member of Pastime Athletic Club. A communicant of Holy Family Church, he was a member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society and Holy Name Society. His interests included bowling, baseball, car racing, hunting & fishing. Albert was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Edwina Wenzel, and brother, Paul Wenzel. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, the former Mary Lou Mastrocola; daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Larry Hopkins of Camillus and Janice and Anthony Casale of Warners; sons and daughter-in-law, Alan Wenzel of Central Square and Kevin and Karen Wenzel of Marcellus; sisters, Rosalind Straub of Syracuse, Doris Gruner of Arizona and Nancy Wallace of Oswego; brothers, Carl Wenzel of Geneva and Michael Wenzel of Boulder, Colorado; grandsons, Kyle, Cory, Luke, Dalton, Joel and Nicolas and granddaughters, Elissa and Lauren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2008 at Holy Family Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Friends may call Wednesday, July 9, 2008 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Burial will be private at the Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Syracuse. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Pastime Athletic Club, 1314 N.
