Alan Robert Barnes, 93, of Camillus, passed away Friday, March 13 at University Hospital. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was a graduate of Central High School and earned his bachelor's degree in engineering from Syracuse University. Alan was employed with McQuay International for 25 years before retiring in 1991, after retiring he worked at Intertek until 2018. He also volunteered delivering Meals on Wheels with his longtime friend Elois Hudson. He was a member of Robinson Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Alan was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Doris; wife of 39 years, the former Pauline Boyes; and brother, Robert.
Surviving are his sons, Donald (Joanne) of Camillus, Todd of Camillus and Bruce (Valeria) of Natick, MA; grandchildren, Andrew Barnes, Alex Barnes and Kimberly Kelly; and great-grandson, Jackson Barnes.
Services will be held in late spring.
