Alan R. Harvey, 80, a lifetime resident of Syracuse, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2017. He was an experienced computer administrator and engineer and spent most of his employment with GE and Lockheed Martin.
Alan enjoyed computers, fishing and was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. A former member of the Army National Guard and Taunton Fire Department, he also volunteered at the Camillus Erie Canal. Above all, he loved his family.
Alan was predeceased by his brothers, John and Donald.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Margaret Purcell Harvey; children, Nancy Roberts of Marcellus, David and Daniel, both of Syracuse, and Mary Beth (Curtis Cook Jr.) Harvey of Parish; sister, Diane (Jerry) Tanner of Glenville, NC; grandchildren, Tory Roberts, Thomas Van Buren, Justin, Joshua, and James Harvey; great-grandson, Brendan Roberts; sister-in-law, Marilyn Harvey; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be no calling hours.
Funeral services will be Saturday, October 28 at 1 p.m. in St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 5402 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Burial will be private.
