Jonathan Diaz, 26, of Onondaga, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2016. Born in Sunnyside, WA he came to Syracuse in 1992. A graduate of Onondaga Central High School, Jonathan graduated from SUNY Brockport and OCC. He was employed with The Redhouse and previously worked for NYS OPWDD. Jonathan played football and lacrosse for Onondaga Central, won a national championship in lacrosse at OCC and played football at Brockport. He enjoyed video gaming, lacrosse, traveling and was an animal lover. Above all, Jonathan loved spending time with his family and friends.
Jonathan was predeceased by his paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Diaz; and maternal grandfather, Miguel Cruz.
Surviving are his parents, Felipe and Evelyn of Onondaga; brothers, John (Shana) Rivera of Syracuse and Felipe (Rohanny) Diaz Jr. of Onondaga; nephew, Anthony Rivera of Syracuse; paternal grandfather, Eugenio Diaz of Puerto Rico; maternal grandmother, Angela Noble of Syracuse; fiancée, Hope Watson of Camillus; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Relatives and friends may call Monday, November 28 from 4 to 7 p.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Services will be Tuesday, November 29 at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be private.
